Memorial services for Henry E. "Sonny" Yeadon were held Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Family Life Services in Gillette, Wyoming, with Pastor Mary Crump officiating. Upon his wishes a private cremation service has taken place, and a scattering of his ashes will take place at a later date.
Henry Everett Yeadon, known to his family and friends as "Sonny" age 53, passed away on December 23, 2008 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of cancer.
Henry Everett Yeadon was born May 13, 1955, the son of Henry and Connie (Dawson) Yeadon in Wheatland, Wyoming. Sonny was raised and educated in the Wheatland area. At the age of nineteen he began his career with the railroad, holding positions as track laborer, numerous years as an engineer, train master, then returning to the position of engineer. Sonny married Shelly Peterson on December 30, 2006, at their home in Gillette.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and hosting barbeques at his home, with his family and friends. In his spare time he also enjoyed restoring vintage automobiles and doing woodworking. His greatest passion was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Sonny and Shelly were members of Abate, and would participate in the club's motorcycle activities.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly, of Gillette; parents, Henry Yeadon Jr. of Chugwater; Connie Stivason of Wheatland; one daughter, Linea Yeadon of Gillette; two sons, Grant Yeadon of Portland, Ore.; Ryan Yeadon of Gillette; a grandson, Kyan A. Yeadon of Gillette; five stepchildren, Krystal Hunt, Leslea Hunt, Kordell Hunt and Derek Hunt all of Gillette; Tyrell Hunt of Sheridan; two sisters, Toni (Mike) Quillen of Cheyenne; Lesa Bartow of Wheatland; half-sister Shawn Exley of Cheyenne; maternal grandmother, Leota Throckmorton of Wheatland; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved puppies, Oakley and Willie.
Sonny was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandfathers, his paternal grandmother, a cousin, a nephew and an uncle.
A memorial has been established in Sonny's name to the local Gillette Abate. Memorials can be sent to Walker Funeral home at 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, Wyoming, 82716. A Reception of Remembrance will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the Platte Valley Bank Community Room, 200 16th Street in Wheatland, from 1-3 p.m. Please bring your memories, have some pie and coffee, and join us in celebrating Sonny's life.
